Whatever the situation, we are dedicated to your ease and satisfaction in taking care of your property.

When should a tree be removed, or preserved?

It’s not always clear whether a problem tree should be trimmed, restored, or removed completely. Thankfully you’ve got experts on hand who have seen it all, and will share all of the options available to you.

There are several factors that determine whether a tree should be removed, versus preserved by trimming, cabling, thinning, or other methods. The most important being safety, of yourself as well as your property.

Reasons to Remove:

  • Direct danger to home or property

  • Tree illness beyond the ability to arrest or reverse via treatment options

  • Damage to or encroachment upon other trees/flora

  • Clearing for new construction or renovation

We treat every job as its own story, and focus on matching your desires to the options available. If a tree can be saved rather than removed, we explore the pros and cons of both, giving you a clear picture of your options, costs, and benefits.

Options for Preservation

  • Trimming

  • Canopy Thinning

  • Canopy Elevation

  • Relocation

Services

  • If a tree can be saved we’re always willing to put in the effort. Tree preservation methods can vary with context, but include solutions such as trimming, thinning, cabling, top-cutting, and others. The main objective in preserving a tree is to allow it to better thrive within its environment, and enable it to cooperate with other flora in its environment. At our core we believe that nature knows better than we do, and trees grow together into functioning ecosystems. The less we disturb that process, the better.

  • Still, sometimes the only option is to take a tree down—especially when safety is a concern. Our team has extensive experience with full tree removal, from simple felling to full crane & cable removal methods. We have what it takes to remove trees safely and without undue wear and tear to your property. Wood from downed trees may be removed outright or repurposed for firewood or creative methods, depending on your situation.

  • Along with tree removal, we recommend stump grinding or removal and lawn maintenance as follow-up tasks. Tree root systems remain underground, taking up water and space that may benefit other trees or plants on your property. With our performance-grade equipment, we are able to grind out a removed tree’s root system and use the mulch to smooth over the area, ending up with pristine new lawn instead of an eyesore of a stump.

  • After trees have been removed and/or stumps ground, your lawn might be in need of a shape-up. Other trees in the area of the removal might also require trimming, shaping, or preventative measures to adjust to changes in their soil environment and avoid unexpected erosion. Using all available methods, from sod, seeding, and transplanting to earth moving and re-grading of surfaces, Valley Creek Tree can make a crater into a garden in a matter of weeks.

  • Tree services are our wheelhouse, but we don’t forget the rest of your lawn. A healthcare and maintenance program can be helpful for encouraging growth in newly planted flora, from trees with specific pH requirements to shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation. Other considerations include pest management and ecosystem management, based on what already lives on your property, both flora & fauna. Along with healthcare, we are able to advise on garden programs, landscape design, and other beautification methods you may not have considered.

  • Beyond residential services, Valley Creek Tree has experience in large-scale land clearing and preparation for new construction and renovation projects. Biomass reduction solutions, as fancy as it sounds, are made of good planning and hard work; we’ve got both by the bushel. Whether it’s for an addition or preparing for a new slab pouring, call us in to get the ground ready for construction.
